As you know we are based in Calgary, Alberta,
one of Canada’s fastest growing cities.
When I moved here in 1998 from Ottawa I felt
like I had stepped into a modern western.
I couldn’t believe how many pick-up
trucks there were on the road. I also saw
guys walking around with cowboy hats on. In
Ottawa we would only see cowboys if it was
Halloween. I’m not talking about how
hick Calgary is because it is definitely NOT.
You see Calgary has seen a lot of growth in
the 6 plus years that I have been here. Sure
there are remnants of the Wild West but Calgary
has changed into a cosmopolitan city of 1
million people. The following is a top ten
list that proves Calgary isn’t your
little friendly city on the prairie any more.
Or is Calgary just returning to its “Wild
West” roots?

9) Drive by shootings on our freeways
8) Frequent stabbings at houseparties and
nightclubs
7) Boyfriends killing ex-girlfriends.
6) Large grow-ops busted weekly

3) Hip hop station Vibe 98.5 bringing a
bit of gangsta to Calgary
2) Homes frequently selling for 1 million
dollars
1) Only one remaining stoplight on Deerfoot
